September 11th, 2012. Day +550.   6 comments

Here we are.  Another September 11th gone by.  Today marks the 2 year anniversary of Charlotte’s AML diagnosis.  It is also 18 months after her transplant.  What an interesting and terrific two years we have had!

Here are a few reminder pictures of where we were two years ago, and last year…

I know you have seen this one more than a few times.  But it really is one of the few pictures we have from that day.  And it’s just a good picture to remind ourselves of where we were when this whole journey started.  This was taken when CJ was recovering from her bone marrow biopsy and her port-a-cath installation surgery.

This was last year when we took CJ and Molly on a picnic, she was still on isolation from her BMT.

And today we have Charlotte, celebrating like any regular kid would, by going to Ella’s Deli and riding the carousel!!

Amy and I would never be where we are without the help and prayers from all of you.  We have been truly blessed.  We will never be able to thank you all enough.

Don’t forget to sign up to walk or donate for the Madison area Make-A-Wish walk on September 23rd.  We are close to our goal of raising $2500, which will allow Charlotte’s Angels to sponsor a wish for another deserving child!

  1. I have goose bumps looking at these pictures. I am so amazed at all you’ve been through and how you’ve handled it all. I can’t wait to walk with you to support Make A Wish. It gives me great honor! Thanks for sharing your ups and downs with us in such an honest and open way.

  2. HI! I’ve been following Charlotte’s story from day one, and am moved beyond words at how well she’s doing. My husband Bill and I are running the 5k on September 23. We hope to be able to meet Charlotte the day of the race. She’s such an inspiration! Mary D.

  3. Que the tears. Kudos to the Elske’s. Congratulations on enjoying “normal” 4 year old life. She is beautiful, as is her sister, and we are all blessed that Erin was selfless enough to donate her bone marrow to help heal Charlotte. All our love from Nebraska

  4. We have truely amazing neighbors! Whenever I start to feel sorry for myself I just look across the street and as soon as I see Charlotte and Molly outside playing I’m reminded that true faith does reward in miracles.

  5. Your entire family is a precious treasure!!! May God be praised!

  6. I love the picture of this healthy and happy four-year-old Charlotte riding the carousel! Wishing you all the best today and perfect check-up results so that there are many more pictures of a healthy and happy Charlotte!
