September 4th, 2012. Day +543 Charlotte’s first day of school!!   4 comments

The title of this post says it all.  How can I describe the feelings that Amy and I felt this morning when we dropped Charlotte off at her 4K class today?  There were tears.  Tears of joy.  Tears of relief.  Tears of hope.  So many tears, so few cheeks.

I know that a lot of parents in every city were having emotional moments this morning-and I am not trying to take anything away from their day.  But for Amy and me,  today was a dream come true.   This was one of the days we always prayed Charlotte would be around to see.  She was such a brave girl this morning, and she seemed to love going to school.  Amy and Grandma picked her up and she was all smiles and loved talking about her day.  Let’s hope that enthusiasm continues!  We couldn’t have been more proud.  We are so thankful for our many blessings.

As many of you might already be aware, September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.   Here are some scary facts.

Each year in the US almost 13,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer.

Of those, 1 in 5 won’t survive.

Please consider joining, or donating to, our Make A Wish Walk for Wishes Team-Charlotte’s Angels.  Amy and I can tell you firsthand, the monies raised are going to a wonderful cause for some very deserving children.

  1. :):):):):) All smiles here! Your first day of 4K is in the books! Way to go Charlotte!

  2. Whoa! First day of school!! Yes, she is such a brave little girl, brave beyond her years. CJ will be such a true blessing to the kids around her and to the teaching staff. Every time I hear her sweet little voice, my heart takes a leap of joy! I can still remember my daughter’s first day of school many moons ago. I cried the minute I walked out the door of her classroom and all morning. Being able to see your little precious angel here and now walking into her classroom — priceless beyond all explanations and all expression!!! God bless you all!

  3. tears… on my cheeks also!

  4. What a beautiful little girl! This has been an extremely emotional year with Charlotte’s continued way back to health from her bone marrow transplant…..what a joy it is to see her resuming normal 4 year old activities – going to school! So many happy tears now, so very much to be thankful for……..oh and Charlotte’s Angels is now in 2nd place in the Walk for Wishes! Getting close to the initial goal, but how amazing would it be to be able to sponsor another child’s wish? WOO HOO!!!!
