Dr’s goals for the day:

“Get in some play time, Poop, Eat more, Try walking around”

We started the day with a diaper change.  We looked at her bone marrow sample sore on her back and the swelling was much reduced from last night.

She was interested in going to the play room.  She even walked 8-12 feet while there to try different toys.  Played for about half an hour or more.  Interacted well with Ina.

Didn’t want anything to do with lunch.

Amy and I met with the Psychologist-he wanted to know how we were feeling about all of this.  Said it is normal to have doubts, fears, and lose positive thinking throughout the ordeal.

Charlotte took a long nap, from 1-6pm.  Woke up with a little energy.  Had a small bit of poop stains in her diaper.  Not too much, but it was a start.  Actually ate a little bit of food as well.  We had to say good-bye to Grandma and Grandpa Wagenknecht this afternoon as Grandma needed to return to work for awhile.  We’re sure they’ll back soon to visit, but it was hard to say good-bye.

It was time to take her vitals and she was working well with Rachel showing where the blood pressure cuff goes.  Helping put the pulse/ox lead on her toe.  And pressing the buttons on the thermometer before lifting her arm and then closing it on the lead.  When that was done she put the lead back into the thermometer.  All the while not crying once.

Around 8pm, she was getting pretty anxious.  She first wanted to go to the play room.  We played for 15 minutes.  She then wanted us to carry her around the halls.  Within a minute or two, she wanted to try walking.  We walked through the halls for about an hour while she was getting doses of daunorubicin (chemo).

Returned to the room to play with toys a little more, then back to the halls for more walking.

Again, returned to the room to play more and we then changed a pretty poopy, not terribly runny diaper.  Went to bed between 10:30-11:00pm.
